Q: How long do Pulstar® Pulse Plugs last?

A: Pulstar® Pulse Plugs last longer than most spark plugs - about 100,000 miles depending on the condition of your vehicle and driving habits.

Q: Will the installation of Pulstar® effect the warranty on my car?

A: No. The 1975 Magnuson Moss Act prevents a manufacturer from voiding a warranty based on a customer's selection of parts that the dealer does not offer.

Q: What gap setting do I use for Pulstar®Pulse Plugs?

A: We recommend setting your Pulstar plug to the factory gap recommended by your manufacturer. If you have a vehicle with forced induction such as a turbocharger or supercharger we recommend setting the plugs to a gap of .025".

Q:Have Pulstar® Pulse Plugs been independently tested?

A: Yes, www.sparkplugs.com has done an independent test using the Pulstar® Plugs vs many different spark plugs in a 2005 Neon SRT-4 with great results.

Change2E85.com sells E85 conversion kits for vehichles and noticed a 5% increase in fuel economy with their conversion kit making the mileage after the kit come within 9% of the original mileage using gasoline.

Dsport Magazine tested our plugs in 2000 Acura Integra Type-R, 2004 Infiniti G35, and 2007 Mitsubishi Evolution IX and got positive results on all 3. We have the article in PDF format available for download. The article is in the March 2008 Issue # 63.

Modified Magazine has also done a test of the Pulstar plugs and really liked what they saw. They tested on a 350Z and the article can be found here for download in PDF format and is in the April 2008 issue.

Q: What will Pulstar® Pulse Plugs do to my engine's main computer?

A: Nothing. Pulstar® contains circuitry to prevent radio frequency interference (RFI) and electro-magnetic interference (EMI).

Our scientists and engineers thought of everything when they developed the Pulstar® pulse plug. In order to have a product that could be used by every car on the market, we had to take into account a myriad of different computers.

The pulse of the Pulstar® pulse plug is so quick that the intensity of the ignition spark is complete in a period of 30 billionths of a second.

Q: Are Pulstar® Pulse Plugs certified under CARB?

A: Yes, Pulstar® plugs are certified under the California Air Resources Board (CARB), our CARB number is EO622. This means that you can use Pulstar® plugs in California and other areas that require emissions testing. Actually, if you are having trouble passing your emissions test Pulstar Plugs might give you that little extra you need to pass.

Q: Are there any places I can go to get updates on product or testing data?

A: We have a blog that testing information and product updates such as new plugs for vehicles will be posted. You can click here to subscribe to our RSS feed to stay up to date! Our test results page will also be updated as new cars are tested.

Q: I've made modifications to my engine, can I still run Pulstar® plugs?

A: Most basic, bolt-on modifications available for vehicles today work perfectly alongside Pulstar® plugs. Examples include cold air or short ram intakes, exhaust systems, and ignition system upgrades such as MSD. More advanced engine upgrades, such as a turbo or supercharger and nitrous oxide injection, are also capable of using Pulstar® plugs if the plug meets the heat range requirements specified by the upgrade.

Q: How were you able to lower the price from $24.95 to $10.95 per plug?

A: Enerpulse has continued to refine Pulstar technology resulting in the 3rd generation, G3, Pulstar plug though design and manufacturing changes. These refinements have reduced the manufacturing cost and Enerpulse is passing the cost savings along to you, our loyal customers. The refinement has also allowed us to give you longer lasting Pulstar products with either platinum, the MPG series, or iridium, the POWER series, electrodes.

The MPG series with platinum electrodes is available for most vehicles at $10.95 each and the POWER series with iridium electrode at $13.95 each.

Q: What is a pulse plug?

A: A new ignition device that replaces spark plugs and increases peak spark current by up to 10 times as compared to spark plugs.

Q: Do I need to make any modifications to my car to use Pulstar® Pulse Plugs?

A: No. Pulstar® Pulse Plugs are "plug and play" products with no further modifications necessary.

We specifically designed the pulse plug to fit into the same hole as your existing spark plug. When you receive your Pulse Plugs you will find they have them same size and shape as a standard spark plug and are installed the same.

Simply remove your existing spark plugs according to the manufacturers recomendations and replace them with your new, fuel efficient, Pulstar® Pulse Plugs and start enjoying a more exhilarating ride!

Q: Will the high power of Pulstar® Pulse Plugs harm my engine?

A: No. The high power of Pulstar® Pulse Plugs occurs within 2 nanoseconds (2 billionths of a second), which is enough time to ignite fuel, but not enough time to overheat the combustion chamber or engine parts.

Q: How much performance improvement should I expect after the installation of Pulstar® Pulse Plugs in my car?

A: Pulstar® Pulse Plugs will improve all aspects of combustion quality in your car. You will notice improved throttle responsiveness, more torque, and better fuel economy. The amount of performance will depend on the make, model, and condition of your vehicle. In general, you should expect torque to increase by 4 to 12% and realize between 4 to 7% improvement in fuel economy.

Q: Why are Pulstar® Pulse Plugs more expensive than spark plugs?

A: Pulstar® Pulse Plugs are more expensive to manufacture than spark plugs because of the innovative integrated pulse circuit. The different internal components and varying operational process distinguish them from spark plugs. Pulstar® Pulse Plugs are lab and road tested for durability, performance, and safety.

Q: What is the heat range of a Pulstar® pulse plug?

A: Pulstar® pulse plugs cover the following heat ranges:
NGK: 5-7
Denso: 22-16
Champion: 7-12
Bosch: 5-8

Q: Do Pulstar® plugs work with older cars?

A: Pulstar® plugs are compatable with carbureted engines and ignition systems that incorporate mechanical/vacuum advance distributors. In these engines, however, it is likely that ignition timing will need to be adjusted as a result of the installation of Pulstar® plugs. While the plugs themselves do not change the duration or advancement of the timing, the increased spark causes a need to retard timing a few degrees if you are already running at the edge of knock.
